In the middle of June this year, defence of bachelor theses took place at the Department of Biology. One of the successfully defended theses was the thesis of Nela Klusová entitled “Differences in morphology, tissue structure and distribution of phenolic substances in plants caused by different spectral composition of light”, which was supervised by Mgr. Jakub Nezval Ph.D. and Mgr. Adriana Volná, Ph.D. (as a consultant). The student (N. Klusová), introduced and further optimized microscopic methods that were not used at the Department of Physics before, in particular procedures allowing the localization of phenolic substances in leaves. Their use in upcoming experiments may be a valuable contribution to understanding the metabolic changes in plants induced by different environmental light conditions. Congratulations and we look forward to further collaborations! 🙂
