Mgr. Michal Štroch, Ph.D., successfully completed his habilitation in Biophysics
We are very pleased to announce that Mgr. Michal Štroch, Ph.D., assistant professor, deputy head of the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, University of Ostrava, and head of the Biophysics group, has successfully completed his habilitation in Biophysics at the Faculty of Science, University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice.
Assoc. Prof. Michal Štroch has long been engaged in research in the field of biophysics, physiology, and photosynthesis of higher plants, and above all, studies the reactions of plants to changes in light and temperature conditions. In his research, he focuses on structural and functional changes in the photosynthetic apparatus of plants when exposed to stress factors, including UV radiation and various spectral quality and quantity of light. His work in basic research significantly contributes to the understanding of adaptive mechanisms that allow plants to thrive and survive in changing environmental conditions.
He completed a number of research stays not only in the Czech Republic, for example at the prestigious Algatech Center of the Institute of Microbiology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in Třeboň, where he devoted himself to modern techniques for studying photosynthetic organisms, but also collaborated with members of research groups in, for example, Germany, France and Slovenia.
Michal, congratulations on achieving the academic title of associate professor and we wish you many more professional and personal successes!
